When I began to think of ways to raise money for our service dog I knew I didn’t want to really make a go fund me page. I’m personally just not a huge fan. I have worked with an art non-profit for the past few years. One way they generate funds is to do face painting for donation. People started asking me to attend some festivals. Last year before the true conception of the service dog I was painting faces for donations. I was putting the money into my art workshops I manage. I decided this would be one of the many ways to raise funds for the service dog. I asked some people I know if they could help. The two main places being Crittenden’s men clothing shop in Midway, KY and High on Art and Coffee in Lexington.
We have a close family friend that works at Crittenden’s men’s shop. She is one of the most exuberant, straight forward, kind- hearted, Kentucky gals you will ever meet. She holds art dear to her heart. Honestly she didn’t really ask me if I wanted to set up in Midway it was more in the manner of the politest demand. She assured me not to worry about anything. She is someone on our life team that is always encouraging and pushing us. We are truly blessed to be able to use the Crittenden garden area in Midway on Main Street. We will be at all the Mid- Summer Mid-nights as well as the fall festival. I will be doing henna and face painting for donations. We will also have some shirts and decals. We do this same small set up every first Saturday of the month from 11-4 at High on Art and coffee in Lexington. Below are some event links- you can find us at.
As you can tell art is very importin to our family. I love to create and work with people that like to create. When thinking again about the funds for the dog I began to think up a fashion show concept. I was telling a friend about my idea. I had worked with this model a few times in the Lexington Fashion outlets. We met through an organization called The Lexington Fashion Collaborative. She said let’s get a fashion show together to raise funds for your daughter’s service dog. For the past month this is what I have been doing in my free time. Tiki Java will be the location for our Fashion Show on July 27, 2019. It will take place from 5pm-8pm. It will be $10 to get in. All proceeds go to the service dog fund. The Show will showcase 5 local Lexington designers as well as fashion work from myself and a full body painted model.
We also have many other things in the works for fund raising. We are also open to the idea of working with people that would like to help us. If you are reading this and would like to help us set some kind of fund raiser up, that would be amazing. Please contact us via e-mail. As an artist I love to help small business when possible. Please make sure to check out the event links. Hope to see y'all out and about in the community.
